What is an "Aloc"?

"Aloc", is the catalan name of a bush who's scientific name is Vitex agnus-castus, chasteberry in english.

It's a decidous bush, between 1 to 3 meters high. Their leafs sat opposite, palmately compound with 5 to 7 fingerlike leaflets; so, someone can mistake it as a Cannabis sp. plant. Flower color ranges from violet to blue to deep purple. Blooms are fragant and they attract bees and humblebees in great quantities. Fruits are little black balls.

Between their domestic usages we can find: female hormonal disorders relief, infertility medecin and Parkinson disease medecin. Some people highlights their anaphrodisiac properties, as it is clearly stated in their scientific name --castus--.

Local farmers use it as shore glue, to build recipģents and to scare away animal farm parasites.
